Baramati Tragedy: Live Wire Falls on Iron Cot, Electrocuting Sleeping Couple

A short circuit occurred in the wire of a fan placed on a nearby iron stool. The live wire accidentally fell onto the iron cot.

Pune: A tragic accident took place in Sangvi (Taluka Baramati), where a husband and wife were electrocuted while sleeping in their home. The shocking incident was reported on Wednesday (April 2), leaving the local community in grief.

The deceased have been identified as Navnath Rama Pawar (40) and Sangita Navnath Pawar (38). The couple was involved in a small business of selling toys at fairs and religious events. They are survived by two children and a married daughter, who are now left devastated by the sudden tragedy.

How the Tragedy Unfolded
On Tuesday night (April 1), the couple was sleeping on an iron cot inside their home. That night, strong winds and intermittent power fluctuations were reported in the area.

At some point, a short circuit occurred in the wire of a fan placed on a nearby iron stool. The live wire accidentally fell onto the iron cot where the couple was sleeping. Before they could realize what was happening, they were electrocuted, leading to their instant death.

Police Investigation Underway
After the incident, Mālegaon police registered a case of accidental death. Police Inspector Tushar Bhor is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The sudden and unexpected deaths of the couple have shocked the local community, highlighting the dangers of electrical faults and the need for improved electrical safety measures in homes.
