Bharat Forge Wins IGBC Green Champion Award for Village Sustainability Initiatives

The Green Building Congress 2024, organized by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), highlighted the theme “Advancing Net Zero in Buildings & Built Environment”.

Pune, 3rd December 2024: Bharat Forge Ltd. has been awarded the prestigious IGBC Green Champion Award at the 22nd Green Building Congress 2024, held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru.

The award recognizes Bharat Forge’s exceptional contributions to transforming rural villages into IGBC-certified Green Villages, exemplifying its commitment to sustainability and holistic community development.

As part of its CSR initiative, Bharat Forge has undertaken transformative projects across 108 villages.

The company’s efforts span critical areas, including providing access to drinking water, enhancing agricultural infrastructure, promoting organic farming, biodiversity conservation, rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy solutions.

Key Milestones Achieved:

  • Conservation of 2,625 TCM of water, benefiting 216,215 people.

  • Construction of 80 km of roads and training 764 farmers.

  • Establishment of 7 telemedicine centers and cancer screening for 5,800 women.

  • Renovation of 42 Zilla Parishad schools and planting 237,000 trees.

  • Installation of 469 kW of renewable energy infrastructure.

  • IGBC Green Village certifications for six villages, including Dhamner, Saygaon, Rui, Takale, Nagzari, and Targaon.

The Green Building Congress 2024, organized by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), highlighted the theme “Advancing Net Zero in Buildings & Built Environment”. The event brought together industry leaders to discuss innovations in sustainable practices.

Dr. Leena Deshpande, Associate Vice President HR & Head CSR at Bharat Forge, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “This recognition is a testament to Bharat Forge’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and holistic village transformation.

Inspired by the vision of our Chairman, Baba Kalyani, and Vice Chairman, Amit Kalyani, we aim to create a greener, healthier, and more equitable future for all.”

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including B. Thiagarajan, National Chairman of IGBC; Vikram Singha, Associate Counsellor, IGBC; and Jeff Oatman, Head of Collaboration & Membership, Green Building Council of Australia.

Bharat Forge’s efforts align with CII-IGBC’s mission to drive the green building movement in India, setting a benchmark for industry stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to a greener future.
