Bhimashankar Sugar Factory has announced the payment of the remaining Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) at ₹280 per ton to sugarcane farmers for the recent crushing season. This move ensures that all outstanding dues for the 2023-24 season are cleared, reinforcing the factory’s commitment to fair compensation and transparency.
FRP, or Fair and Remunerative Price, is the minimum price sugar mills must pay to farmers for their sugarcane, as mandated by the central government. It is revised periodically to reflect production costs and market conditions, safeguarding farmers’ interests and ensuring their livelihoods. For the 2025-26 season, the central government has set the FRP at ₹355 per quintal (10.25% recovery rate), with specific provisions for variations in recovery rates. However, individual factories may announce their own rates and payment schedules for previous seasons.
Bhimashankar Sugar Factory had previously declared a total sugarcane rate of ₹3,200 per ton for the 2023-24 season. The latest announcement of an additional ₹280 per ton as the remaining FRP ensures that farmers receive the full amount due for their produce, addressing any pending balances and boosting farmer confidence.
