Pune, 18th May 2026: Traffic regulations for Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) mixer vehicles have been revised by Pune Traffic Police to reduce congestion while ensuring smoother movement of construction-related transport across the city.
The new rules, issued after discussions with the RMC Association, will remain in force on a trial basis for one month.
Under the revised order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, RMC mixer vehicles will receive relaxation from morning peak-hour restrictions on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. However, evening peak-hour restrictions will continue without any changes.
The traffic department clarified that the relaxation applies only to RMC mixer vehicles. Restrictions on other heavy vehicles such as Hyva trucks, dumpers, and transport trucks will remain unchanged.
The revised policy also allows RMC vehicles to enter designated Red Zone areas in the city during morning hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and government holidays, provided operators obtain prior approval from the traffic department. Authorities, however, have retained evening restrictions in these sensitive zones.
As part of enhanced road safety measures, the traffic department has directed all RMC operators to install 360-degree cameras on their vehicles within one month. Until then, operators must ensure that a cleaner accompanies the vehicle to assist drivers in congested areas and help prevent accidents.
Additionally, all RMC plant operators have been instructed to install mandatory 'DD' checking machines at their facilities. Every mixer vehicle must undergo inspection through these systems before exiting the plant premises.
Traffic officials further stated that certain internal roads connected to major city routes will continue to remain off-limits for RMC vehicles beyond designated junction points. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also been instructed to install signboards regarding the revised rules in the concerned areas within seven days.
