Bhosari Flyover's Rainwater Overflow Causes Annoyance for Commuters

Pune: The Rajmata Jijau flyover in Bhosari has turned into a waterfall near Samvidhan Chowk due to the heavy rains.

Rainwater is pouring down in large volumes from the flyover, creating a waterfall-like effect. Additionally, water is flowing from some pillars onto the road, splashing on motorists and pedestrians, causing frustration and inconvenience.

In the past, the drainage system installed under the Rajmata Jijau flyover to manage rainwater broke down, leading to water accumulation. Currently, rainwater is falling directly from the flyover, causing sudden splashes on bikers and increasing the risk of accidents. The issue persists even after the rain stops, with water continuing to fall for a while, adding to the problems faced by the citizens.

Foul Odors and Garbage Complicate Matters

The drainage pipes near some pillars under the flyover are also in disrepair, causing rainwater to flow onto the road.

Areas like Chandni Chowk, Samvidhan Chowk, Bhosari-Alandi Road Chowk, and near Sant Dnyaneshwar Banquet Hall are facing foul smells due to people urinating near the pillars. At night, large amounts of garbage are dumped near the pillars at Chandni Chowk.

While the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation clears this garbage, the foul-smelling water mixed with rainwater flows onto the roads, causing discomfort to motorists and pedestrians who are also splashed with this water.

Similarly, the under construction Sinhagad road flyover is also causing inconvenience to commuters. Especially during heavy rains, commuters on the road get drenched in water falling from above as well as water splashing due to speeding vehicles going through waterlogged potholes.
