Blaze in Kiwale Destroys Four Shops; Pimpri Gas Explosion Injures Five

Multiple fire engines from Pimpri Chinchwad, Pradhikaran, PMRDA, and Dehu Road were dispatched to the scene.

Pune: A major fire broke out at the Indraprastha Housing Society in Kiwale late on Tuesday (August 20) night, resulting in the complete destruction of four shops.

The incident occurred around 11:45 PM, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The fire department was alerted by Ritesh Khandelwal, who noticed the blaze.

In response, multiple fire engines from Pimpri Chinchwad, Pradhikaran, PMRDA, and Dehu Road were dispatched to the scene. The fire was intense, and the shutters of the shops were locked, requiring the use of a power cutter machine to gain access. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze using hoses and hose reel equipment.

The shops affected by the fire included PGD Computers, Shri Durga Provision, Om Ganesh Enterprises, and Shri Lakshmi Kerala Store and Hotel. The owners of these businesses have estimated the damage at approximately 7 million rupees.

The fire was brought under control by a team of firefighters from various departments, who worked diligently to prevent the flames from spreading further.

Gas Explosion in Pimpri Injures Five; Patients Under Treatment

In a separate incident in Pimpri, five people were injured in a gas explosion caused by a leak on Wednesday (August 21) morning. The explosion occurred around 6:30 AM in the Buddha Nagar area.

The injured, identified as Manoj Kumar (19), Dheeraj Kumar (23), Govind Ram (28), Ram (40), and Samendar Ram (30), are all residents of the same locality and are currently being treated at YCM Hospital.

The Pimpri Chinchwad fire department was not notified about the incident by local residents, but it is suspected that the explosion was triggered when the leaking gas came into contact with an ignition source.
