Pune: Reckless Bullet riders who modify their silencers to create firecracker-like noises are facing strict action from the Kharadi Police. In response to multiple complaints from distressed residents, authorities seized 11 illegally modified Bullet motorcycles and imposed a total fine of ₹45,000 on the offenders.

The Eon IT Park area in Kharadi is surrounded by numerous residential complexes. However, in recent months, Bullet riders have been disturbing the peace by speeding down roads and creating loud, explosive noises from their modified silencers, often late at night.

The deafening noise has become a major nuisance, especially for senior citizens, children, and pedestrians. Many riders have illegally altered their silencers, producing sounds that startle passersby and wake sleeping children. Concerned residents have repeatedly called for police action against such reckless behavior.

Acting on these complaints, the Kharadi Police launched a special drive on Wednesday (February 19) to curb the menace. During the operation, 11 Bullet motorcycles with illegally modified silencers and missing number plates were seized.

The offenders were fined ₹45,000 in total and were allowed to take their bikes only after replacing the modified silencers with standard ones and affixing proper number plates.

"We have launched a special operation against Bullet riders who modify their silencers and create disturbances in Kharadi. Our officers, including those in civil dress, are actively identifying and penalizing offenders," said Sanjay Chavan, Senior Police Inspector, Kharadi Police Station.
