Pune: The assembly election preparations are in full swing, with leaders and aspirants from various constituencies gearing up for the upcoming polls.

Speculations are rife that a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be nominated from the Chinchwad assembly constituency. However, internal dissent has surfaced within the party, particularly against the potential nominations of BJP city president Shankar Jagtap or MLA Ashwini Jagtap.

Former municipal corporators Shatrughna Kate and Chandrakant Nakhate have united to oppose the Jagtap family's candidacy. They convened a meeting with other former corporators to voice their concerns and strategize against the proposed nominations. Several corporators were present at this meeting, where they articulated their positions.

According to sources, a resolution was passed during the meeting stating that if any member of the Jagtap family is granted the nomination, the others in their group would refuse to participate in party activities.

This move highlights the growing rift within the BJP as it navigates the challenging political landscape leading up to the elections.

The meeting saw attendance from notable former corporators, including Chandrakant Nakhate, Shatrughan Kate, Sandeep Kaspatte, Kailas Barane, Siddheshwar Barane, Balasaheb Owhal, Madhuri Kulkarni, Sunita Tapkir, and Savita Nakhate.

Additionally, Raj Tapkir, the state vice president of the BJP's youth wing, and Ram Vakadkar, the city vice president, were also present, indicating the significant concern surrounding the internal dynamics of the party.
