CME Pune Hosts Seminar on Sustainable Military Infrastructure Development

Pune: A two-day seminar on “Adopting and Accelerating Sustainable Practices for Development and Maintenance of Infrastructure for Armed Forces” was successfully held at the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune, under the aegis of HQ ARTRAC (Army Training Command) on February 7–8, 2025.

The seminar, conducted in hybrid mode, brought together leading experts, industry professionals, and academia to discuss and promote sustainable infrastructure solutions for the Armed Forces. The focus was on innovative construction practices and waste management strategies to align military infrastructure development with India’s national sustainability goals and climate commitments.

Delivering the keynote address, Lt Gen Arvind Walia, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Engineer-in-Chief, Corps of Engineers, underscored the pressing need for sustainable construction techniques, particularly in solid and liquid waste management within military installations. He emphasized that environmentally responsible infrastructure is key to ensuring operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The seminar featured discussions on global and national sustainability policies, emerging green technologies, and real-world applications, fostering productive dialogues among stakeholders. The exchange of insights and best practices is expected to enhance the resilience, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of military infrastructure.
