CNG Pump Worker Loses Eye in Accident; Owner and Manager Booked for Negligence

The gas nozzle suddenly detached and hit his left eye with great force, causing a severe injury. Medical examination confirmed that he permanently lost vision in his left eye.

Pune: A 23-year-old worker at a CNG pump in Dhankawadi suffered the permanent loss of his left eye in a workplace accident after a gas nozzle detached and struck him while he was refueling a vehicle.

The incident took place on Sunday (December 15) evening at 6:30 p.m. at the S Square CNG Pump in Teen Hatti Chowk, Dhankawadi. The victim, Harshad Ganesh Gehlot, filed a complaint at the Sahakarnagar Police Station, following which a case was registered against the pump owner, Dhairyashil Pansare, and manager, Rahit Harkurki, for negligence.

Accident Details and Investigation

According to the police, Harshad Gehlot had been working at the S Square CNG pump for the past year. While refueling a vehicle, the gas nozzle suddenly detached and hit his left eye with great force, causing a severe injury. Medical examination confirmed that Gehlot permanently lost vision in his left eye.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the pump management failed to implement adequate safety measures to protect its employees. The lack of precautionary systems or safety protocols at the workplace has been cited as a cause of the accident.

Sahakarnagar Police Constable Chavan is leading the investigation, and further legal proceedings are underway.
