Pune: A tragic accident occurred on the Pune-Solapur National Highway near Madanwadi Chauphula (Taluka Indapur) on Saturday (March 15) morning at around 6 AM, when a goods container lost control and plunged 20-25 feet from a bridge, killing the driver on the spot. The deceased driver has been identified as Shravankumar Bhagwatiprasad Yadav (37), a resident of Mumbai, originally from Uttar Pradesh.

According to police reports, the container was en route to Pune from Solapur. Upon reaching the flyover at Madanwadi Chauphula, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash off the bridge and land on the service road below.

The impact left Shravankumar Yadav critically injured. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, but he had already succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical treatment.

The accident site is a busy area with high pedestrian movement. However, since the incident occurred early in the morning, no bystanders were present, preventing a larger disaster. Following this accident, local residents have urged the authorities to implement better safety measures on the Madanwadi Chauphula and Bhigwan bus stop flyovers.

The Bhigwan Police Station is conducting a detailed investigation under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Mahangade.
