COVID-19: 4,618 train passengers in Mumbai fined for not wearing masks

The Central Railways informed that 2,060 local train passengers on the Mumbai Suburban Network were fined for not wearing masks

Amid rising Covid-19 cases, 4,618 train passengers have been fined between February 1 to 14 by the Mumbai Division of Railways and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for not wearing masks.

The Central Railways informed that 2,060 local train passengers on the Mumbai Suburban Network were fined for not wearing masks while onboard and a total of Rs 1,21,600 have been collected from them.

Mumbai division of Railways fined 2,558 passengers for not wearing an in the train and a total penalty of Rs 3,28,500 collected for them, said Chief Public Relation Officers (CPRO), Western Railway.

This comes under growing numberof the COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday gave a strict warning if people disobey the COVID-19 protocols, they should be prepared for another lockdown.

In his warning to people, he said, “Use face-masks, follow all protocols while in public events, gatherings, weddings, Avoid overcrowding. It is up to you. Otherwise, be prepared for another lockdown.”
