Pune, 11 August 2025: Pune police have registered a case against seven members of a family after a 26-year-old woman from Ambegaon Pathar died by suicide, allegedly due to harassment by her in-laws.
The woman, Sneha Vishal Zandge, was found hanging at her home earlier this week. Her parents allege she had been mentally harassed by her husband and his family, leading to her death. They have demanded that strict charges be brought against all accused.
Based on their complaint, Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have booked Sneha’s husband, Vishal Zandge; father-in-law, Sanjay Zandge; mother-in-law, Vithabai Zandge; brother-in-law, Vinayak Zandge; sister-in-law, Tejashree Thite; Tejashree’s husband, Parmeshwar Thite; and a relative, Bhausaheb Kolhal.
The case has drawn parallels to earlier incidents in Pune, such as the death of Vaishnavi Hagawane, who also allegedly faced mental harassment and dowry pressure. Women’s rights activists say the Ambegaon Pathar tragedy underscores the urgent need for stronger measures to protect women from domestic abuse.
