Pune: A businessman from Kondhwa area, who sells construction materials, was shot and injured in a brazen daylight attack on Monday (September 16) afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 PM when three men entered Dilip Gaikwad’s (43) shop, posing as customers. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and police are investigating the case.

Gaikwad, who runs a shop near Salve Garden in Upper Indiranagar, was attending to the suspects, who had inquired about the prices of bricks and cement. As he was providing information, one of the men suddenly pulled out a pistol and fired a shot, hitting Gaikwad in the stomach.

The sound of gunfire alerted local residents, who rushed to the scene along with police officers. The three attackers—identified as Bablu Syed, Jagtap, and Bhusari—were apprehended soon after the shooting, preventing their escape.

Gaikwad was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors began treating his injuries. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Raja, Gaikwad's condition is now stable and out of danger.

Despite their arrest, the suspects have not disclosed a reason for the attack, and police investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. None of the suspects have any prior criminal history.

The police are also examining CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to piece together the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
