Pune: In a tragic turn of events, Shirish Maharaj More, the 11th descendant of Sant Tukaram Maharaj, was found dead at his residence in Dehu on Wednesday (February 5) morning.

Initial investigations suggest that financial distress led him to take his own life. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as he was set to be married on February 20.

According to Dehuroad Police, the 38-year-old spiritual leader was found hanging in his room on the upper floor of his newly constructed house. His family, residing on the ground floor, became concerned when he did not come downstairs by 8:30 AM. Upon receiving no response, they forced open the door and discovered him lifeless.

A suicide note was found at the scene, in which Shirish Maharaj cited financial difficulties as the reason for his extreme decision. Senior Inspector Vikram Bansode of Dehuroad Police Station confirmed that preliminary inquiries suggest financial stress as a key factor behind the incident.

Apart from his spiritual lineage, Shirish Maharaj also owned an idli eatery in Nigdi. He had recently been engaged, and his wedding was just weeks away. His sudden demise has left Dehu village in mourning, with followers, relatives, and well-wishers expressing grief.

His last rites will be conducted at Vaikunth Crematorium at 4 PM today. The police are continuing their investigation to gather further details surrounding the case.
