Pune: A disturbing incident unfolded on B.T. Kawade Road in Ghorpadi when a computer engineer, who was reportedly drunk and causing a commotion, and his brother assaulted police officers who had been dispatched to handle the situation. The incident led to the arrest of the engineer and his sibling.

The individuals involved have been identified as Nayan Shivaji Bhandalkar, 25, and Ashish Shivaji Bhandalkar, 22, both residents of Kundan Eternia on B.T. Kawade Road.

Additionally, a case has been filed against three other associates who were with them at the time. The complaint was lodged by Police Constable Aniket Wable.

According to police reports, Nayan Bhandalkar is a computer engineer, and his brother Ashish is currently a student. On Monday (September 9) night, around 1:15 AM, the police control room received complaints from local residents about a group creating a disturbance by drinking alcohol in front of the Rosary Society.

Police constable Wable and his team quickly responded to the scene, where they found Bhandalkar causing a ruckus in the middle of the road.

Efforts by the police officers to calm Bhandalkar down were met with hostility. Both Bhandalkar and his brother physically assaulted Constable Wable and used abusive language. Meanwhile, three of Bhandalkar's associates managed to escape the scene.

As a result of the assault and obstruction of police duties, both Bhandalkar brothers were arrested. The court has ordered their detention in police custody for three days, as confirmed by Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange from the Wanawadi Police Station.
