Pune: The much-anticipated annual Flower Show at Empress Garden is set to take place from January 24 to 27 this year. Organized by the Agri-Horticulture Society of Western India, the Flower Show has been a tradition celebrated every January, drawing nature and flower enthusiasts from across the region.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Suhas Divase, Settlement Commissioner and Director of Land Records, on Friday, January 24, at 12 PM. This year’s show promises to be a visual delight with highlights including intricate Japanese-style floral decorations, unique flower arrangements, and an extensive display of bonsai plants created by skilled participants.

Nationwide Participation

The Flower Show will host nurseries from Pune and other regions, including Kolhapur, Sangli, Nashik, and Andhra Pradesh. This diversity ensures visitors will experience a wide variety of plants and flowers. Additionally, a painting and handwriting competition for schoolchildren will be held on January 12, with around 1,000 students expected to participate.

Special Initiatives for Seniors and Gardeners

To encourage involvement from all age groups, including senior citizens, various gardening competitions will be organized. Artistic displays of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, as well as ornamental potted plants and creative floral arrangements, will be featured prominently.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the newly enhanced Empress Garden, which has been meticulously decorated for the event. The Flower Show offers a chance to witness innovative garden designs, aesthetically arranged pots, and a diverse array of flowers and foliage.

The Agri-Horticulture Society of Western India, which manages Empress Garden, has been fostering a love for nature and the environment since 1830. Through this annual Flower Show and various other initiatives, the society aims to connect people with nature, encouraging them to experience and appreciate its beauty.
