Pune: The Airport (Vimantal) police have registered a case against an individual for spreading a false bomb threat via social media, causing panic among passengers.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 20, when a message was posted from a social media account claiming that a bomb had been placed on a private airline flight bound for Singapore from Pune International Airport.

The airport administration promptly reported the matter to the police, and a bomb detection squad, along with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), conducted a thorough search of the aircraft. However, no suspicious items were found.

The police have identified the social media account used to spread the false information under the name "Schizophrenia 111" and have filed charges against the account holder. Munish Kotwal, an airport official, filed a formal complaint with the airport police station. The investigation is currently being led by sub-inspector Karpe.

This incident follows a similar bomb hoax from October 15, when rumors were spread about bombs being placed on three private flights. A bomb threat was reported to the police control room for a flight arriving in Pune from Lucknow.

The incident prompted immediate action by the police administration, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airport authorities, and IndiGo. After an extensive inspection, the threat was confirmed to be a hoax, providing relief to the authorities involved.
