Pune: In a tragic accident, a three-and-a-half-year-old girl named Girija Shinde lost her life when an iron gate fell on her while she was playing near her home in the Bopkhel area.
The incident, which took place on Wednesday in Ganesh Nagar, has left the community in shock, especially after a the CCTV footage revealed the incident.
On the afternoon of the incident, Girija was playing with other children. She was seen running alongside a girl when a boy attempted to close the building's iron sliding gate.
Due to a malfunction, the gate fell on Girija. A nearby individual quickly rushed over to lift the gate off her, and she was immediately taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing the moment the gate fell and the subsequent rescue attempt.
The footage has caused a stir and brought to light the dangers of faulty equipment, prompting calls for greater safety measures in residential areas. The community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young girl.
