Pune: Usha Kakade, the wife of former MP and businessman Sanjay Kakade, reportedly attempted suicide by consuming an excessive amount of sleeping pills. Sources suggest that the incident occurred due to family-related reasons. She was immediately rushed to Ruby Hall Clinic, where she received urgent medical attention.
However, Ruby Hall Clinic has issued a different statement regarding the matter. According to hospital spokesperson Ali Daruwala, Usha Kakade was admitted due to food poisoning, and there has been no official confirmation of a suicide attempt. The hospital has now discharged her, stating that her condition is stable and she has completed her treatment.
This incident has drawn attention due to Sanjay Kakade’s prominence in both politics and business. A well-known name in Maharashtra, Kakade has played a significant role in the real estate sector since 1986. His company, ‘Sanjay Kakade Group,’ has been a major player in construction and infrastructure.
Apart from his business ventures, Kakade gained political recognition in 2017 when former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis entrusted him with managing BJP’s campaign for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections. His strategic efforts contributed to BJP’s victory in Pune, establishing him as a key political figure.
In 2019, he was once again assigned crucial responsibilities during the Lok Sabha elections, which he successfully handled. His expertise in the construction industry also influenced government policies, particularly in the tendering process, reportedly saving Pune Municipal Corporation ₹800 crores.
Kakade was later nominated to the Rajya Sabha, where he worked on various political assignments across Maharashtra. However, in recent years, he has remained largely inactive in political affairs.
While the hospital has denied confirming a suicide attempt, the circumstances surrounding Usha Kakade’s hospitalization remain under speculation.
