Pune: Despite strict warnings from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar against the use of harmful laser lights and high-capacity sound systems during the Ganpati immersion processions, many mandals openly flouted these orders.

Several mandals were found using laser beams and sound amplifiers in various parts of the city, including major routes like Laxmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road, and Tilak Road. The loud noise caused considerable discomfort to residents, with similar incidents reported in suburban areas as well.

Preparations for the immersion processions began on Monday night, with many mandals setting up iron structures to install the prohibited laser lights and powerful sound systems.

In light of this, the police have deployed 126 special teams to monitor and check the sound levels during the processions. The police teams have been instructed to take immediate action against any mandals that exceed the permitted sound limits or use laser beams, which can pose safety risks to the public.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar reiterated his warning, stating that action would be taken against any mandals that violate the regulations. Despite these warnings, many mandals continued to defy the orders, leading the police to step up enforcement. The teams will actively measure sound levels and take strict action against violators during the ongoing immersion processions.

The use of high-capacity sound systems and laser beams not only violates the police directives but also disturbs residents and poses potential health risks. With the deployment of the police teams, authorities aim to ensure that the immersion processions remain within permissible sound limits, providing a safer and more comfortable environment for all involved.
