Pune: Gaurav Manoj Ahuja, who was caught on camera engaging in obscene behavior in an intoxicated state at a busy intersection in Pune, has been apprehended in Satara. Pune police confirmed that Ahuja, son of a prominent businessman, had been on the run following the incident but was traced and detained late Saturday (March 8) night.

The case stems from an incident at Pune’s Shastrinagar Chowk, where Ahuja was recorded urinating on the footpath and later engaging in further indecent conduct inside his luxury vehicle. The video, captured by a bystander, quickly went viral on social media, prompting public outrage.

Following the backlash, Ahuja released a video statement apologizing for his actions and claiming he would surrender at the Yerawada police station within hours. However, before he could do so, he was taken into custody by Satara police. Officials have confirmed that he will soon be transferred to Pune police for further legal proceedings.

Pune police had already arrested Ahuja’s associate, Bhagyesh Oswal, in connection with the case. A formal complaint was lodged at the Yerawada police station, citing public obscenity and disruption of public order.

According to police reports, Ahuja, under the influence of alcohol, stopped his car at a busy junction in Yerwada, where he was seen urinating in public. When confronted by a bystander who recorded the act, he responded dismissively. The video further showed Ahuja lowering his pants and engaging in indecent behavior inside his vehicle before recklessly speeding away. The presence of women passing by during the act further intensified public outrage.

Past Criminal Record

This is not Ahuja’s first brush with the law. In 2021, Pune’s Crime Branch arrested him for extorting ₹2.5 lakh from a liquor businessman through illegal betting activities. Investigations at the time revealed his active involvement in betting operations, particularly targeting college students.
