The government has cleared 31 fresh proposals under the electronics components manufacturing scheme, entailing investments of Rs 7,877 crore, the secretary in the IT ministry, S Krishnan, said on Monday.
According to Krishnan, the government has received a total investment proposal of Rs 69,548 crore, against a target of Rs 59,350 crore.
Currently, we have cleared nearly 31 applications that were evaluated in this particular session or meeting, and the total proposed investment stands at Rs 7,877 crore," he stated at an event jointly organised by Elcina and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The sanctioned proposals encompass those from GX Group, Centum Electronics, Ennovi Mobility Solutions, Allied Engineering Works, Globe Capacitors, Syrma SGS Technology, Rosenberger Interconnect, Sensata Technologies, and Britannia RFID Technologies, among others.
Krishna stated that the new round of investment will be allocated across 10 states.
He stated that these approvals will lead to the production of goods valued at Rs 82,243 crore and the creation of nearly 10,000 jobs.
The Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), introduced in April 2025, provides incentives to establish domestic manufacturing units.
Feature of Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme:
Available to both companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs) that invest in either greenfield (new) projects or brownfield (expansion) projects.
Originally introduced with an allocation of ₹22,919 crore, the Union Budget 2026-27 has now formally increased the outlay to ₹40,000 crore in response to strong industry demand.
It spans a six-year period from FY 2025-26 to FY 2031-32, with the possibility of an extra one-year gestation phase.
Offers a mix of revenue-linked incentives and capital expenditure (CapEx) support for authorized manufacturing facilities.
ECMS was launched with objective to shift India's focus beyond final goods assembly into advanced component manufacturing to reduce heavy import dependence, and to actively integrate domestic companies with global value chain (GVC).
And to serve as a direct complement to the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in establishing a coordinated domestic electronics ecosystem
