Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and other coastal districts have been hit the hardest. In view of the situation, schools in multiple districts were closed, while the Maharashtra government announced a holiday for state offices in Mumbai. The civic body also advised private companies to allow employees to work from home.

In Pune, the weather observatory has predicted extremely heavy rainfall across the city and surrounding regions, particularly along the Konkan belt. Authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid travelling to hill stations and ghats, where continuous downpours could trigger landslides and accidents.

Mumbai witnessed cloudburst-like conditions, with record-breaking showers between Monday and Tuesday morning. By 8:30 a.m., rainfall figures stood at 255.5 mm in Vikhroli, 241 mm in Byculla, 238.2 mm in Santacruz, and over 220 mm in Juhu. Heavy waterlogging was reported in several parts of the city, disrupting road and rail traffic.

The weather office has placed Mumbai under a red alert, warning of more extreme rainfall. While life in Mumbai remains paralyzed by the downpour, authorities in Pune and other districts are on high alert, bracing for the impact of the intensifying weather system moving westward from the Bay of Bengal.
