Hinjewadi Police Nab Bike Thief; Recover 10 Stolen Two-Wheelers

Pune: Hinjewadi Police have arrested a bike thief identified as Sahil Mehboob Shaikh and recovered ten stolen motorcycles in a significant operation.

Shaikh was apprehended while riding a bike without a number plate, leading to a detailed investigation that uncovered a series of thefts across multiple police jurisdictions.

Background and Arrest

For the past few days, police in the IT hub of Hinjewadi had been monitoring suspected bike theft cases. Sahil Shaikh was intercepted by the police during routine surveillance when he was spotted riding a bike without a number plate.

Upon being detained, police questioned him, revealing a pattern of thefts. During his custody, Shaikh admitted to stealing eight bikes and was further linked to two additional thefts during the investigation.

Criminal Record and Modus Operandi

Shaikh has been linked to multiple cases: five under the jurisdiction of Hinjewadi Police Station, two at Chakan Police Station, and one at Khadak Police Station. He used to sell the stolen motorcycles at low prices and reportedly employed some of them in committing further thefts.

The police suspect Shaikh's involvement in more thefts and are continuing their investigation. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat of Hinjewadi Police Station.
