Pune: The Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) at INS Shivaji concluded with a ceremony on December 30, celebrating the successful completion of training by 35 officers. The graduating officers included 21 from the Indian Navy, four from the Indian Coast Guard, and international participants from Sri Lanka, Namibia, and the Philippines.

Rear Admiral Deepak Kumar Goswami, AVSM, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyard and Refit), graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. The course, themed “Anchoring Skills in the Indian Navy,” was meticulously designed to develop technical expertise in marine engineering, enabling officers to excel in shipboard operations and the maintenance of critical marine engineering systems.

Recognition of Excellence

During the ceremonial parade, outstanding officers were honored with awards:

• Lt Hariharan K K received the prestigious 'Best All-Round Officer' trophy.

• Asst Comdt N Siranjeevi was recognized as the 'Best Sportsperson' and the 'Best ICG Officer.'

• Lt HASV Hapuarachchi from the Sri Lankan Navy was named the 'Best International Officer Trainee.'

Adding to the significance of the occasion, the 46th edition of the Journal of Marine Engineering (JME), focusing on 'Advancement in Sustainable Marine Engineering Practices,' was unveiled by the Chief Guest.

The successful completion of the MESC reinforces INS Shivaji’s role as a premier training establishment committed to producing technically proficient and globally competent marine engineers. The event also underscores the Navy’s dedication to fostering international partnerships and enhancing its operational readiness.
