Insurance Policy Fraud: Woman Duped of Rs 13.12 Lakh by Cyber Thieves

Pune: A woman was duped of Rs 13.12 lakh by cyber thieves in the name of life insurance policy. The incident took place in Wanawadi area. A woman lodged a complaint at Wanawadi police station.

The complainant is a resident of Parmar Park area in Wanawadi. The cyber thieves contacted the girl's mobile number five months ago.

Pretending to be a representative of a life insurance company, he asked about the annual payment of a life insurance policy of a private company.

The thieves took information about the girl's bank account. Some of the policy money will be paid as a refund, he said.

The girl deposited Rs 13.32 lakh in the bank account given by the thieves from time to time.

The girl was then asked to send more money. Suspecting foul play, she enquired and found that the fraud had taken place.
