Pune: The increasing incidents of crime across Maharashtra have led to sharp criticism from Jayant Patil, the state president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar).

Patil has accused the entire state government, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, of failing to maintain law and order.

Speaking to the press in Pune, Patil highlighted the recent attack on an assistant police inspector, who was severely injured while attempting to resolve a dispute in the city.

Patil expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, pointing out that the police force's morale has been significantly undermined under the current administration. He criticized the government's lack of focus on the police department and administration, noting that criminals are becoming increasingly emboldened.

Meanwhile, when a journalist mentioned that MP Supriya Sule demanded the resignation of Devendra Fadnavis from the Home Minister position following this incident, Jayant Patil responded with a humorous remark, saying, "Well, there are only two months left. I don't think it makes sense to ask for Devendra Fadnavis's resignation for just two months."

"It's very serious if criminals are seen with politicians, but sometimes it can happen by accident. I won't blame him. However, if it happens repeatedly, and if politicians are seen roaming with criminals, then it is serious. Attacks on the police have started, so the question arises whether the police have become weak," Patil said.

In Pune, an assistant police inspector was attacked with a deadly weapon. He was injured with a machete and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Following this attack, the police administration in the state has been shaken.
