Pune: After the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) secured 31 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, including independent candidate Vishal Patil, the alliance has shifted its focus to strategizing for the upcoming Assembly elections.

A series of meetings have been held in Mumbai to discuss election strategies. However, a recent meeting has sparked controversy after former minister and Congress leader Vishwajit Kadam suggested applying the "Sangli Pattern" in the Junnar Assembly constituency.

At a meeting held at the Congress Bhavan in Pune, chaired by Vishwajit Kadam, discussions were underway to prepare for opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

The meeting was attended by various Congress leaders, including Satyasheel Sherkar, a young leader from the Junnar taluka.

Sherkar, who is eager to contest from the Junnar constituency, found himself at a crossroads as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under Sharad Pawar laid claim to the seat for the MVA alliance.

During the meeting, Kadam proposed implementing the "Sangli Pattern" for Sherkar, referencing a strategy used in the recent Lok Sabha elections where Vishal Patil contested as an independent after the MVA faced internal conflicts.

Kadam’s suggestion has led to concerns about potential discord within the MVA, especially with the ongoing competition for the Junnar seat.

Satyasheel Sherkar, determined to contest from Junnar, now faces a challenging situation with both the Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar factions of the NCP vying for control.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on how the MVA will navigate this internal conflict, particularly with Kadam’s controversial proposal in play.
