Pune: In a swift action against sexual harassment, Lonikand police completed the investigation in a molestation case within 24 hours of the complaint being registered and filed a chargesheet in court. The accused, Siddheshwar Biradar (30), a resident of Kolwadi, has been convicted by the District and Sessions Court at Shivajinagar.
The case involved a 30-year-old man harassing women in a housing society in Kolwadi by making inappropriate phone calls and passing obscene remarks. Following a complaint from one of the victims, Lonikand police launched an immediate investigation and swiftly filed a chargesheet.
During the court proceedings, the complainant and witnesses testified, and the accused admitted to the crime. The court delivered a prompt judgment, sentencing the accused to:
A fine of ₹10,000
₹5,000 as compensation to the complainant
An 11-day simple imprisonment if the fine is not paid
A directive to remain in the courtroom until the court session concluded
The case was handled efficiently under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Police Inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar.
The investigation was led by Assistant Police Inspector Vijaya Vanjari, with the support of officers Ashish Lohar and Vitthal Kedari.
