Pune: In an inspiring feat of determination and grit, eight-year-old Shahu Kamlesh Dhumal from Mahude-Bhor scaled Kalsubai, Maharashtra's highest peak, within just two and a half hours. Known as the “Everest of Maharashtra,” Kalsubai rises 1,646 meters above sea level and is a challenging trek even for seasoned climbers.

The trek, organized by the Sahyadri Trekkers Foundation, Pune, saw the participation of 100 trekkers under the leadership of Foundation President Surendra Dugad. Shahu, a first-grade student at Vidya Pratishthan’s Bhor English Medium School, joined the trek alongside nine-year-old Nirja Yogesh Bidkar from Pune. Both young trekkers impressed everyone by successfully reaching the summit in record time.

Shahu has consistently demonstrated his love for trekking, having previously completed several treks across the Sahyadri mountain range. His parents, Smita and Kamlesh Dhumal, have been his constant source of motivation, encouraging him to pursue his passion for the outdoors.

The Vidya Pratishthan School honored Shahu during its annual gathering held on Tuesday, December 10. The felicitation ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Rajkumar Bamane, Block Education Officer of Bhor Panchayat Samiti; Yashwant Dal, former group leader of Bhor Municipality; Ramdas Patil, Bare Center Head; and the school’s principal, Ashwini Madgude.

Shahu was presented with a special award for his achievement, symbolizing recognition for his extraordinary accomplishment and inspiring students to strive for greatness.
