Pune, 5th December 2024: Police are set to interrogate ten individuals accused in the Kalyani Nagar accident case, where blood samples of a minor were allegedly tampered with to destroy crucial evidence.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Ingale, who is heading the investigation, secured permission from the court for this collective interrogation. The court order was issued on Wednesday, December 4, by Special Judge U.M. Mudholkar.
The case revolves around allegations of tampering with the blood samples of a minor involved in the accident.
Police have named ten accused, including the minor's parents—Vishal Surendrakumar Agarwal and Shivani Agarwal—both residents of Brahma Suncity, Wadgaon Sheri.
Other accused include:
Dr. Ajay Taware, head of Sassoon Hospital’s forensic department
Dr. Shrihari Halanor, emergency department’s chief medical officer
Atul Ghatkambale, a constable
Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, alleged intermediaries in financial transactions related to the tampering
Aditya Avinash Sood (52, Ghorpadi)
Ashish Satish Mittal (37, Viman Nagar)
Arun Kumar Singh
Nine of the accused have been chargesheeted, with Arun Kumar Singh yet to face formal charges. A joint trial is planned for all accused once the pending chargesheet is filed.
Authorities are investigating whether bribes were offered to the doctors and constable involved. The interrogation will also probe the financial transactions used to orchestrate the tampering. The police’s petition for joint questioning at Yerawada Jail aims to uncover further evidence.
Dr. Ajay Taware has filed a plea seeking his exclusion from the case. Separately, Ashish Mittal has requested medical treatment at a private hospital, a plea still awaiting a court decision.
