Pune: Kamala Nehru Hospital, the city's only municipal multi-specialty facility, is facing a severe hygiene crisis as sewage water accumulates in the parking area of its newly constructed building.

Despite the crores of rupees spent on the hospital's development, the drainage system has failed, leading to significant sewage buildup.

The unhygienic conditions have prompted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to issue a stern warning, threatening to pour the dirty water into the commissioner's office if immediate action is not taken.

A delegation from the Aam Aadmi Party recently inspected the deteriorating conditions at Kamala Nehru Hospital. The delegation included City President Sudarshan Jagdale, General Secretary Satish Yadav, Vice President Anil Kondhalkar, Media Coordinator Niranjan Adagale, Youth Wing Joint Secretary Adv. Gunaji More, Shankar Thorat, and Balaji Kanthekar.

During the visit, Jagdale met with the hospital's administrative officers, but received no satisfactory response. The delegation expressed concern that the administrative mismanagement is putting citizens' lives at risk, with a significant fear of the spread of diseases like Zika, dengue, and malaria.

Niranjan Adagale and Adv. Gunaji More questioned whether the municipal administration will only take action after lives are lost.

Rainwater Accumulating in the Basement

In addition to the sewage, rainwater is also accumulating in the basement of the new building. There is no drainage, leading to foul smells and an increase in mosquito breeding.

This situation is adversely affecting the health of patients receiving treatment at the hospital. The need for pumps to remove this water further highlights the poor construction practices.
