Pune: In a horrific case of filicide, a 28-year-old man brutally murdered his three-and-a-half-year-old son using a knife and blade. The murder was allegedly triggered by constant arguments with his wife over suspicions regarding her character. The Chandan Nagar Police have seized the murder weapon, and the accused has been sent to police custody until March 28.

The accused, Madhav Sadhurao Tiketi (28), a resident of Chandan Nagar, allegedly took his child to a deserted spot near Forest Park in front of Kharadi Dargah between March 20 and 21. He then slit the child’s throat using a knife, killing him on the spot.

When the father and son did not return home by 9 PM, the child's mother became worried and filed a complaint at Chandan Nagar Police Station. After a thorough investigation, Tiketi was arrested.

Tiketi was produced before Judicial Magistrate (First Class) T. S. Gaygole on March 22. The prosecution, represented by Dilip Gaikwad, argued that the crime was of an extremely serious nature, involving the kidnapping and brutal murder of his own son.

The prosecution requested maximum police custody, citing the need to:

  • Investigate where the accused acquired the murder weapon

  • Locate the two-wheeler used for the crime

  • Recover the clothes worn by the accused during the incident
