Pune: The teachers of Sinhgad City School, Kondhwa, have gone on strike, protesting against months of unpaid salaries. Over the past three to four days, teachers have refused to conduct classes and are instead sitting on the school playground. This has left students without guidance, leading to frustration among parents—especially with final exams just 15 days away.

The school, which follows the CBSE curriculum, has around 40 teachers and thousands of students. Parents pay ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 annually, with many from economically weaker backgrounds making significant financial sacrifices for their children's education. However, the ongoing protest has disrupted learning, with students now refusing to attend school, citing the absence of teachers.

Concerned parents gathered at the school premises after their children complained that no classes were being held. One parent, Harshad Deshmukh, stated: "I personally visited the school and saw all the teachers sitting on the playground. No one was willing to answer when asked how long the strike would continue."

When journalists attempted to contact the school principal, she was seen interacting with the protesting teachers. However, when approached for comments, she responded: "I have nothing to say at the moment. If needed, we will hold a press conference." She then left for her office without further explanation.

This lack of response has infuriated parents, who feel ignored despite paying hefty fees. Some questioned why they were being treated as if they were at fault for asking for accountability.

Reacting to the growing concern, Pune Municipal Corporation's Education Officer, Sunanda Wakhare, assured that an inspection team would be sent to the school. She stated: "We will investigate and take strict action against those responsible. We will ensure that students do not suffer due to this issue."
