Pune: Two separate accidents involving speeding cars occurred in Pune on Tuesday (December 10), leaving four people injured. The first incident took place around 10 p.m. at Khadi Machine Chowk in the Kondhwa area.
A high-speed Skoda car, driven by Santosh Gupta, hit two two-wheeler riders, causing minor injuries to their hands.
According to Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, Gupta, a car mechanic, was driving recklessly when the collision occurred. Eyewitnesses claimed that Gupta was under the influence of alcohol.
During the accident, the car’s tire burst, and local residents apprehended Gupta, beating him before handing him over to the Kondhwa police. Gupta was detained and taken to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination.
The second incident occurred earlier on Tuesday evening on DP Road, where a speeding car collided with an electric two-wheeler. A young man and woman riding the two-wheeler were injured, with the woman suffering a leg injury.
The car driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled. Police arrived at the location shortly after being informed. Both cases are under investigation.
Earlier on December 5 afternoon, a reckless driving incident caused chaos on Baner-Sus Road near Nanavare Chowk, as a 19-year-old driver Ritvik Shyam Bansode collided with five vehicles in succession.
Although no injuries were reported, significant property damage occurred, including damage to a two-wheeler and four other vehicles. The driver was driving an MG Gloster car (MH-12 WH-9112) when the incident occurred.
