Pune: The Koregaon Bhima Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) Tribute Program in Perne, scheduled to take place from December 27 to January 2, will witness extensive parking arrangements to accommodate the influx of visitors.
District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase has issued orders to temporarily acquire privately owned vacant plots in the vicinity to facilitate parking for both private and public vehicles.
A large crowd is expected to gather to pay homage at the Vijay Stambh, necessitating organized parking facilities. To prevent congestion near the monument, open spaces in Lonikand, Perne, and Vadhu Khurd will be utilized for parking. Temporary bus stops will also be established for PMPML buses to streamline transportation.
In addition, emergency exit arrangements have been prioritized. Adjacent spaces near the Vijay Stambh will be marked as emergency exits, enabling quick evacuation if required. The acquisition orders were issued under Section 65 of the Central Disaster Management Act, citing the need for temporary land use during the program.
The designated parking zones include Lonikand, Vadhu Khurd, Phulgaon, and Perne for general vehicles, while PMPML buses will have specific parking spaces in Lonikand. Areas for bookstalls will also be set up in Perne. Additional government grazing land in Perne may be utilized for any overflow parking needs.
To accommodate two-wheelers and four-wheelers, detailed parking arrangements have been made at various locations, including Waqf Board Parking, Jeet Dhaba, Pune Nagar Highway, Torna Parking Bajrangwadi, and other designated sites.
Drop-off and pickup points have also been set up at key locations such as Krisha Honda Showroom, Hotel Green Garden, and Koregaon Bhima Market Yard. The authorities have urged visitors to follow the specified parking and transportation plans to ensure the smooth conduct of the tribute program.
