Pune: The Koregaon Bhima Victory Pillar commemoration began on December 31 (Tuesday), drawing large numbers of followers from across Maharashtra and beyond. The two-day event, held on December 31 and January 1, is a significant occasion, with lakhs gathering to pay homage at the historic site.

To manage the influx of followers, estimated to reach 10 lakhs this year, the Pune district administration has implemented numerous facilities. These include free bus services, healthcare support, nursing rooms, shelters for senior citizens, toilets, drinking water stations, police help desks, and parking areas.

A dedicated mobile application, "Vijaystambh Suvidha," has been launched to guide attendees to these amenities efficiently.

District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase emphasized that the administration has taken all necessary steps to ensure the event is conducted safely and smoothly.

Special officers and 17 coordination officers have been appointed to monitor preparations, while 8,000 police personnel have been deployed for security.

On New Year's Eve, followers began arriving at Perne Phata, the entry point to the Victory Pillar, carrying flags and portraits of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as slogans echoed through the area.

To ensure a smooth flow of events, separate queues for accessing the memorial have been arranged, along with facilities for parking and free bus services. The administration has appealed to devotees to cooperate in maintaining order and making the event a success.

Dr. Divase added, “We request everyone to help us by paying their tributes in a safe and orderly manner. The administration is committed to ensuring all necessary support for the smooth conduct of the commemoration.”
