On Tuesday evening, a 13-year-old girl, Vaishnavi Mangesh Langhe, was attacked by a leopard while riding a motorcycle with her father in Ambegaon, Shirur. The leopard, which was reportedly roaming in the area, pounced on the girl, injuring her leg with its claws.

The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Tuesday in the Sambhidane area of Ambegaon, Shirur. The family was returning home on a motorcycle when the leopard suddenly appeared from the nearby woods. Vaishnavi suffered injuries to her leg, including deep claw marks. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. The girl’s father managed to fend off the leopard momentarily, allowing them to escape. Local residents reported hearing the girl’s screams and rushed to their aid.

There have been several leopard sightings in the Shirur region over the past few months, with some residents reporting encounters near agricultural fields and forests. Authorities have been alerted, and measures are being taken to ensure public safety and prevent future attacks.

The leopard attack in Shirur highlights the need for increased vigilance and cooperation between local communities and wildlife authorities. The region continues to experience leopard sightings, it is crucial to implement effective safety measures to protect both humans and wildlife.
