Pune: A shocking burglary has been reported in Loni Kalbhor, where burglars successfully stole gold jewelry worth ₹14.72 lakh from a hidden safe beneath the bedroom floor of a bungalow. The house belongs to Stephen Victor Valerian Lasrado (51), a Bangalore native currently working in Kuwait.

The theft occurred between January 29 at 11:30 PM and February 1 at 10:30 AM. According to police reports, Lasrado had built the bungalow near Loni Kalbhor a few years ago and occasionally visits from Kuwait.

During his visits, he legally brings gold jewelry as per regulations and keeps it secured in a concealed safe beneath the floor of the master bedroom. The safe, built inside a dug-out section of the flooring, contained a steel box with gold ornaments.

On the night of the burglary, an unidentified suspect gained access to the house, located the hidden safe, removed the flooring, and stole the jewelry. The methodical nature of the crime has led authorities to suspect that the burglar had prior knowledge of the hidden safe’s location.

Following the discovery of the theft, Lasrado filed a formal complaint at the Loni Kalbhor Police Station. Authorities, suspecting that someone familiar with the household may be involved, have launched a thorough investigation. Police Sub-Inspector Anil Jadhav is leading the probe, examining all possible leads.
