Lonikand Police Seize Pistol and Cartridges, Arrest Two Suspects in Robbery Case

The robbery took place on September 14 in Lonikand, where the duo stopped a young man, stealing his mobile phone and vehicle.

Pune: Lonikand police successfully apprehended two suspects involved in the robbery of a young man’s mobile phone and vehicle, recovering a country-made pistol and three live cartridges from them.

The arrests are part of a broader police operation, during which eight country-made pistols and 26 live cartridges have been seized over the past 30 days, helping curb potential criminal activities in the city.

The two men arrested have been identified as Sachin Rajaram Dhore (38), a resident of Dhore Vasti, Kesnand, Haveli, and Manthan Dattatraya Dhumal (26), a resident of Sai Nagar, Kharadi, Chandan Nagar.

The robbery took place on September 14 in Lonikand, where the duo stopped a young man, stealing his mobile phone and vehicle. During the investigation, police constable Swapnil Jadhav received a tip-off from informants in the early hours of September 28.

Acting swiftly, the Lonikand police laid a trap in Bangar Vasti, Kesnand, and arrested the suspects. Upon searching them, police recovered a country-made pistol, three live cartridges, and a stolen Maruti Swift car valued at ₹5.23 lakh. Both suspects have been remanded to police custody until September 30 by the court.

The successful operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad. In the last 30 days, under his leadership, Lonikand police have seized eight country-made pistols and 26 live cartridges, helping to significantly reduce crime in the area.

This operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Police Commissioner Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Pranjali Sonawane, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuja Deshmane.

The team involved in the arrest included Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Godse and constables Sandeep Tikone, Kailas Salunke, Swapnil Jadhav, Ajit Pharande, Sangar Jagtap, and others.
