Pune: On the second day of the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, two major issues from Pune—the Porsche accident and the L3 drugs party case—dominated the discussions. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, and Karjat-Jamkhed MLA, Rohit Pawar, launched a scathing attack on the ruling party, targeting Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis with a barrage of questions.

During the session, Vijay Wadettiwar accused, "Pune has become 'Udta Punjab'." He claimed that the city’s illegal bars, pubs, and hotels are operating without any fear of the administration. He alleged that even government hospitals like Sassoon have become hubs for drug activity.

Wadettiwar further alleged that these illegal pubs, hotels, and bars are paying bribes. He said, "There are nearly 450 open terrace hotels in Pune. Each hotel pays a bribe of five lakh rupees, while smaller hotels pay between 75,000 and 2.5 lakh rupees."

Addressing the Porsche accident case, Wadettiwar said, "There are 27 illegal pubs in Pune. The Porsche involved in the Kalyani Nagar accident had no registration or number plate. Were the Pune Police Commissioner and the police asleep while these incidents were happening?"

Responding to Wadettiwar's questions, Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated, "We have taken cognizance of both incidents in Pune. The police have acted against everyone involved since the accident occurred. FIRs were filed immediately after the accident, and the doctors at Sassoon who tampered with blood samples have been arrested. Additionally, the license of the hotel that served alcohol to minors has been suspended."

Rohit Pawar, MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed, questioned, "Is the accused being let off because he is the son of a wealthy person?"

Home Minister Fadnavis replied, "There will be no discrimination whether the accused is rich or poor. The police should have informed the higher authorities about this case, and since they did not, action has been taken against them."
