Pune: The TREEI Foundation, in partnership with the Imerys Group, has unveiled “The Third Wheel,” Maharashtra’s first food truck operated entirely by members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The initiative, part of Imerys Group’s CSR activities, aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities and encourage entrepreneurship within marginalized groups.

The food truck was officially handed over to Tritiyapanth Samajik Vikas Sansthan, Aurangabad, during a launch event graced by activist Baba Adhav.

Adhav described it as a transformative step toward strengthening underprivileged communities and fostering societal acceptance. The launch was attended by key figures from social reform sectors, including Ramesh Awasthi of Masum Foundation and activist Tamanna Inamdar, alongside members of the LGBTQIA+ community from Pune.

TREEI Foundation’s Executive Director, Tanveer Inamdar, stated, “This initiative is about breaking stereotypes and creating a future where diversity is celebrated. It empowers the LGBTQIA+ community with financial independence and entrepreneurial opportunities while promoting inclusivity at its core.”

Prasanna Karandikar, India Head of Imerys Group, added, “This project reflects our commitment to fostering inclusivity and economic empowerment. It challenges societal norms and celebrates diversity as a strength.”

The food truck, equipped with essential tools, a well-designed kitchen, and operational support, will begin operations in Aurangabad within 20 days. It will also receive mentorship, startup assistance, and monitoring from TREEI Foundation to ensure its long-term success.

Guided by the philosophy of “Table for All,” the project aims to inspire similar ventures across the country, fostering social change and building a more inclusive society.
