Parambir Singh has been shifted as DG Homeguards.

According to sources, he was shunted out following the row over Mumbai cop Sachin Waze’s alleged involvement in placing an explosives-laden van near Mukesh Ambani's residence in the city. Waze was remanded to the NIA custody till March 25.

On Tuesday late night, Singh met Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Varsha.

In the backdrop of Sachin Vaze probe developments, Thackeray met Pawar on Monday at CM's residence, as part of crisis management. Thackeray on Tuesday also met Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, senior police officers from Mumbai police commissionerate to discuss the situation.

Waze, arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), was attached to the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of city police's crime branch till recently.

The NIA has so far recorded the statements of seven officers of the crime branch, including an assistant commissioner of police, in link with the case related to the recovery of the van with explosives near Ambani's house in Mumbai on February 25.

The 1988 IPS officer has previously served as the Director General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) as well as the Police Commissioner of Thane.
