Mumbai: Avni’s death had temperatures soared during the State cabinet meeting. The Shiv Sena targeted BJP and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar during the meeting.

The Sena demanded a judicial probe into the process implemented for the killing of T1 tigress, also known as Avni, in Yavatmal last week. 
 
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had lambasted the government and the Forest Minister over the killing for the last few days. Now, the issue has reached the State cabinet. Shiv Sena had already planned to target Mungantiwar over the issue but the minister reached late for the meeting.
 
Before his arrival, the cabinet had already discussed all the issues and approved them. 

As Mungantiwar reached the meeting hall, Shiv Sena attacked him over the killing of the tigress. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis sensing anger among the Shiv Sainiks winded up the meeting as all the proposals were already approved. 

Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam also demanded a judicial probe. “During the hunt of Avni, one outsider was present at the spot. How can a private person except the forest official be present during the hunt,” he asked. 

He further questioned whether it was really necessary to kill the tigress. “Those who killed Avni are conducting the probe, which is really strange. Hence, I demanded judicial enquiry,” Kadam said. 
Speaking on the issue, Mungantiwar said, “I have already told the Chief Minister that the government can probe the matter with any special committee.”
