COVID-19: Lockdown extended till March 8 in this district of Maharashtra

Amravati: With COVID-19 graph not flattening its curve, the lockdown in Maharashtra's Amravati has been extended till March 8.

Apart from Amravati, other districts such as Nagpur, Yavatmal, Buldhana has also declared to impose restrictions to contain the further spread. From past weeks, aforementioned districts in Vidharbha have witnessed sudden spike in the spread of COVID-19. With rise in the cases, District Collector Shailesh Naval ordered extension of the lockdown in Amravati

In his earlier order, the district was into lockdown from February 22 till March 1. Along with the lockdown, the state government has also enforces a week-long night curfew to check the fresh surge in the region.

With new lockdown in place, people here can step out to buy essential products between 8 am to 3 pm, Naval informed. Hotels would be permit to deliver parcel service while vegetable markets would be open for retailers between 2 am to 6 am. On the other side, school and college exams will be conducted as per the schedule, the collector told.

Meanwhile, the COVID showed upward trend on Saturday as the state reported 8,623 new cases, according to the health department.
