COVID-19 on rise: Maharashtra district to undergo partial lockdown; check full list of new rules

Aurangabad: Amid the surge in the spread of novel coronavirus, Aurangabad district in Maharashtra will undergo a ‘partial lockdown’ from March 11. The lockdown will remain in effect between 9 pm and 6 am and will be placed till April 4.

The decision came after a meeting of ‘task force' which had Collector Sunil Chavan, Municipal Commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey, Police Commissioner Nikhil Gupta, Superintendent of Police Mokshada Patil and other senior officials. Meanwhile, Aurangabad has reported over 52,000 confirmed COVID cases till date.

HERE’S THE FULL LIST OF NEW RULES

· The ‘partial lockdown’ will see the closure of markets, shopping malls and theatres during the weekends.

· No weddings will be permitted to be held in banquet halls between March 11 and April 4.

· Heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora, will also remain closed on weekends.

· Colleges, schools and training institutes will also remain shut.

· Libraries will only be allowed to function at 50 per cent of their seating capacity.

· Restaurants and hotels can remain open at 50 per cent of their seating capacity till 9 pm every day. While, the home delivery of food will be allowed till 11 pm.

· Employers at industries have been asked to ensure that the workforce is made to undergo RT-PCR tests.

· Medical services and media personnel have also been excused from the rules.

· Political, religious, social meetings, marches will be banned during this period.

· Swimming pools, sports competitions will not be allowed.
