Mumbai: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination scheduled for Sunday (April 11) is now postponed to a new date date amid the sharp rise in the spread od .

Students had earlier demanded the date to be extended keeping the pandemic in mind. A meeting was chaired with the Chief Minister on the same issue, following which, it was decided to extend the date.

However, the new dates haven't been finalised yet and will be declared later.

On the other side, the Maharashtra HSC, SSC Exams 2021 will be conducted as per the schedule and there is no question of postponement of the examinations, Maharashtra Education Department has made clear. As per the schedule, the Maharashtra HSC and SSC exams 2021 will be held from April 23 and will continue till end of the May.

Previously, there were reports that these exams might postponed against the rising spread of infection and subsequent lockdown and night curfew in certain parts of the state.

Further, the Maharashtra Board HSC, SSC Exam 2021 will be conducted in offline mode and in the examination hall, following strict COVID-19 norms during the exams. Three weeks back, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had declared that all students from Class 1-8 will be passed without exams. Later, on Sunday, the state government also decided to promote Class 9 and Class 11 students without exams.

The state government, however, declared that the exams for Class 10, Class 12 Board Exams 2021 will be conducted offline and the date sheet for these exams will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Thursday reported 56,286 fresh casws taking the tally of COVID cases to 32,29,547 since the pandemic started.
