Maharashtra: Water sports, amusement parks to resume operations

Water sports and other activities like boating will be allowed outside the COVID-19 containment zones in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government has permitted water sports as well as activities other activities such as boating and entertainment or amusement parks to restart their operations as part of phase-wise easing of lockdown restrictions in the state. A government circular, said all rules of social distancing and precautions to check the spread of coronavirus will have to be followed during these activities.

It said water sports and other activities like boating will be allowed outside the COVID-19 containment zones.

The circular read, "Entertainment/amusement parks including indoor entertainment activities, tourist places will be allowed to function provided the same are outside containment zones.” The standard operating procedures for these activities will be declared by the departments concerned, it stated.

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 3,106 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the state to 19,02,458. Meanwhile, the state has imposed the night curfew in municipal corporation areas in the wake of new coronavirus strain emerged in the UK. The night curfew will remain in place till January 5 between 11 pm to 6 am.
