Mumbai: The Maharashtra government recently altered the rules for its employees reporting late to the office on a regular interval. The government has decided to take action against employees who are late more than twice a month.

The employees of the Mantralaya, in Mumbai, who report late for work more than twice in a month will have to face action, the government in a circular stated. They can face the action in the form of deduction of leave or loss of pay.

The normal reporting time at the Maharashtra government's administrative headquarters is 9.45 am. But there is flexibility of 60 mins for the staffers to report to work. Now the time between 10.45 am and 12.15 pm will be considered as late reporting. The circular read, those coming after that will lose their half day's salary.

Those who report for work at the mantralaya after 11.15 am twice a month will begin losing one casual leave for every late day, it states further. If their casual leaves are over, their earned leaves will be deducted too.

The circular also said, when all balance leaves are completed, employees will lose pay. Valid reasons, including late running of trains, will be accepted. The Head of Departments (HoDs) will review attendance on a monthly basis.
